Class #1: Learning the Basics Stitch a handy wool-felt pin cushion.

This simple project allows you practice several stitches (running, stem and blanket) and you end up with a place to store all those pesky embroidery needles.

Class # 2 & 3: Stitching on Linen I’ll show you several techniques for transferring line drawings onto fabric, how to use a wooden embroidery hoop, divide embroidery floss and combine colors. You’ll start your project in class and will have two class sessions to complete your work.

Class #4: Finishing Up Your finished artwork will be ready for framing on

the hoop and I’ll show you how. Additionally, I’ll share more of my favorite techniques  – satin stitching quotations in your handwriting or a fancy font, machine stitching on paper, using photo transfers and more.

I’ve been stitching since age 5 (poorly executed alphabet samplers & troll doll outfits) and have taught children as young as 5 (with parental assistance) and adults to enjoy this “take-anywhere” art form. Embroidery is a bit like coloring. It’s easy to learn, and while it takes some practice to master, the stitching process is very Zen-like. Pulling a needle and colorful thread through cloth and creating a finished image is a very pleasant activity.
